Get ready! It’s here! Your new debit card with chip technology can be collected at any Scotiabank branch nearest you. Please be sure to bring updated identification with you for collection. Your existing card will continue to work so you can collect at your convenience.
Here’s what you should know about how the card works:
Your new Scotiabank chip debit card is the same card you know and trust, but with the enhanced security of proven technology used worldwide. Your transactions are more secure than ever when you use your new chip card along with your Personal Identification Number (PIN) in a chip payment terminal or ATM.
When you receive your card:
You will need to PIN your new card at the branch upon collection. This process will activate it for usage.
How your chip and pin debit card works at chip-enabled terminals:
- Rather than swiping your card, it will be inserted into the terminal and left there for the entire transaction. Removing the card before the screen display indicates will cancel the transaction.
- You will follow the prompts on the screen and enter your PIN to verify the transaction.
- When the transaction is complete, the screen will instruct you to remove your card
- Look for the Contactless symbol on the chip-enabled terminal and simply tap your Debit card for transactions USD$50 or less on the terminal. Your payment is processed in seconds.
