Scotiabank Celebrates 60 Years of Service in the Cayman Islands with Gala and Community Giving
Georgetown, Cayman – December 2, 2025: Scotiabank and Trust Cayman Ltd recently celebrated its 60th anniversary with a spectacular gala, marking six decades of service, partnership, and progress. The event was attended by the Premier of the Cayman Islands and other senior government officials as well as business leaders, clients, and Scotiabank team members.
The celebration highlighted Scotiabank’s deep roots in the Cayman Islands and reaffirmed its continued dedication to supporting national growth and social development.
Speaking at the event, Jabar Singh, President & CEO Scotiabank Colpatria & Head Central America & Caribbean, reflected on the importance of the milestone.
“Sixty years in the Cayman Islands is more than a measure of time—it is a testament to the trust our clients, partners, and community have placed in us,” Singh said. “The Cayman Islands continue to hold a central place in Scotiabank’s regional strategy, and we are focused on deepening relationships, enhancing the way we serve, and being a financial partner that supports long-term growth and opportunity. Tonight is about celebrating our shared journey and reaffirming our commitment to the future.”
Highlighting Scotiabank’s investment in the country, Singh shared that the bank recently took the strategic decision to relocate its international reinsurance operations to the Cayman Islands, adding that the move was made possible thanks to the strong collaboration of the Government and the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA).
“Our platform here now protects assets valued at over $61 billion and generates gross premiums of some $500 million. This relocation is a vote of confidence in Cayman’s stability, governance and World-class regulatory environment,” Singh said.
Meanwhile, Sarah Hobbs, Vice President & Country Head, expressed her pride in the hardworking team and the Bank’s enduring legacy.
“Scotiabank has grown alongside Cayman for 60 years, and we are honoured to have contributed to the development of families, businesses, and the broader economy,” Hobbs said. “What truly distinguishes this milestone is the resilience and dedication of the people who make our mission possible every day. Our team continues to put customers at the centre of everything we do, and we look forward to continuing to deliver meaningful impact across the Islands.”
Guests were welcomed with special tokens courtesy of Scotiabank and its partner American Express, adding to the evening of celebration and appreciation.
As part of the celebrations, the Bank made two special contributions to Cayman Acts of Random Kindness (Cayman ARK) and the International College of the Cayman Islands (ICCI), in the amounts of CAD$ 40,000 and CAD$ 70,000 respectively.
The donations to Cayman ARK and ICCI will support ongoing programmes that uplift and empower individuals and strengthen communities across the Cayman Islands.
Hobbs added, “Supporting organisations like Cayman ARK and ICCI reflects our belief that a stronger future is rooted in opportunity, access, and community support. These partnerships align closely with our purpose to build a more inclusive and prosperous society.”
Singh echoed this sentiment: “We are proud to stand with partners who are making a real difference in the lives of Caymanians. Our commitment to Cayman does not end at our doors—it extends into classrooms, families, and neighbourhoods across the country.”
300 guests were in attendance at the 60th Anniversary Gala which was hosted at the Kimpton Seafire Resort under the theme ‘Rooted in Cayman’.
